Today, we’d like you to meet Tica Tallent, Writer for Ambassador International.
About Tica Tallent
My first profession was a public school teacher for ten great years. I retired from teaching after my daughter was born and was an exclusive mom to my own two children for several years.
My love for fashion was realized as I created my next job working as a personal shopper at a large department store in our area for fifteen years, where I was also the Teen Board Director and produced many fashion shows. Speaking engagements presented themselves and provided extra income and the opportunity to meet terrific ladies all over our state of South Carolina.
The death of my true role model – my dad – prompted my first book! Daddy was such a prolific writer himself and a true inspiration. “What is Beautiful – Secrets of a Personal Shopper” was a risk in a twofold way. I was an unknown author, and this book is a merging of faith and fashion which I had never seen published. To date I have sold 1200 copies! I have just signed the contract for my next book – a children’s book! Stay tuned!!
Our Interview with Tica
What is your area of expertise? How did you gain this expertise?
My expertise is teaching, writing and public speaking. I was a public school teacher, Sunday school teacher, Teen Board director at a large department store and am now an inspirational speaker! I also produce fashion shows and have published my first book, “What is Beautiful: Secrets of a Personal Shopper” which is a combination of faith and fashion. I have just signed a contract for my second book – a unique children’s book!
Is this different from what you do for your “day job” – or is guest blogging part of your day job?
Guest blogging is an extension of writing!
Do you have a regular guest spot (or spots) on any sites?
I enjoy writing for Fizz Niche and try to add to subjects that pertain to my expertise!
How often are your guest blog posts published?
Probably once a month my blogs are published.
What do you look for when trying to find guest blogging opportunities?
I look for subjects that I can intelligently write about!
How do you decide whether or not an opportunity is right for you?
I ask myself if I can contribute from my life experience and if the readers would find the information interesting and helpful.
How much time do you spend each week looking for guest blogging opportunities?
It really depends, but probably about one hour.
Where do you get your inspiration for what to write about?
I receive inspiration from my heritage of writers, from my life experience, from the beauty of the natural world and from God.
What do you consider a “successful” guest blog post?
A successful guest blog post is one that is found interesting by readers – and mentions my book!!
What is the ONE, biggest benefit you see from guest blogging?
Publicity is wonderful when you are sharing something from the heart – as my book certainly projects.
What are some other benefits of guest blogging?
The discipline of guest blogging is great because it does make you stop your otherwise hectic day – and concentrate on your real goals.
Were you surprised by any of these benefits? If so, how and why?
Yes. I was surprised that my words and picture would actually be published!
Have you made any notable mistakes as a guest blogger? What happened and what did you learn?
No.
Do you have any tactics or strategies for a successful guest blog post that you’d share with someone trying it out for the first time?
Be honest – be succint!
