Make it Appealing to the Eye and Ear
One of the best goals I always set when guest blogging is to be conversational. These are blog posts, not cover letters. Just like an oral conversation, people get bored when the dialogue becomes one-sided or too wordy. When I blog, I make sure that I read whatever I wrote out loud to people in my office. Yes, they do get annoyed, but I can see where I’m boring people or when I need to make major or minor corrections. Try to grab the reader when you are writing. Sometimes, exceptionally short sentences make the blog flow. Other times, you want to pump the blog post full of useful information, facts, and opinions. When you think about it, people want to be surprised by what you have to say—so vary your tone and leave reader with something to think about.
