Diversify Your Guest Blogging Submissions!

Cast a Wide Guest Blogging Net

The main goal I set for guest blogging is diversify my outreach. If you only stay with one website, you’re only going to reach a certain amount of unique readers. Casting a wide net and hitting a ton of different websites that relate to your niche can help you get the word out on your company.

Spend a couple hours and make a list of all the websites you can guest blog for. Keep an excel spreadsheet of all the URLs, and when you get into the office, go down the rows and check to see if any of those sites have guest blogging opportunities that relate to your business. If you make this a morning ritual, you are bound to gain more visitors because your company name and hyperlink will show up in popular search engines.

Be an Expert on Your Guest Blogging Topic

My number one goal when guest blogging is to immerse myself in research. If I don’t know anything about the topic, and even if I do know a little bit about the topic, I spend a good chunk of time sifting through books, asking people for info, and browsing the web for anything that can help my writing.

I make sure that by the end of my research, I’m an expert in that one specific idea. After that, I can load my document with facts and blog about something that I know a great deal about now. Many people tend to just write to get their name out there—even if they don’t know much about the topic at hand. When blogging, you don’t want your reader to sit there—saying, I don’t think this person has any clue about this matter. As eventually people you blog for will disinvite you form blogging on their sites. Leave the reader inspired, or nodding their head because you enlightened them on something brand new.

Good point, Ben!  When submitting your guest blogging posts, make sure you are knowledgeable about the topic at hand.  It is tempting to submit ideas to any topic requested, as to widely spread your name across the internet.  But, responding to the appropriate categories will help you target the audience you’re looking for to showcase your product.  Don’t waste your valuable writing time on a topic that won’t find your customers!
