Guest Blogging is an Important Part of Growing an Audience

guest-blogging-reasons-whyToday’s guest blogger, Kimberly Gauthier, tells us how guest blogging helps her build an audience. Here is her story along with some great tips:

Build Your Audience through Guest Blogging

I write three blogs and I’m the featured blogger for two. My passion is dogs, photography, and blogging. Guest blogging is a wonderful way to introduce myself to a new audience and what I really love is that it’s not necessary to stick within our niche. I’ve written about my favorite fitness DVDs and how I beat the blues.

My best experiences were writing for Digital Photography School and SITS Girls. These are two popular blogs and the traffic that returned to my sites was exciting. One of my sites surpassed 20,000 visitors in one month after a guest post. I’ve learned to be prepared for the influx of traffic, by cleaning up my site, having a mailing list opt in, and writing a post to welcome visitors and introduce them to some of my favorite articles.

Despite my busy schedule, I still believe that guest blogging is an important part of growing my audience. Not to mention the valuable connections I’ve made with other bloggers, photographers, and dog lovers.

If you’re interested in writing for someone, look for their guest posting guidelines and contact them with a submission idea. I’ve only had one person turn down a submission and it was because they only accepted guest submissions from parents. Everyone else said YES! Best of luck.
